Who We Are

Lord of Life Lutheran Church Missouri Synod is a conservative Christian community of all age groups that exists for the purpose of bringing people into a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our History:

In 1985, Pastor Ric McMillian accepted his first call to plant a church in the North Dallas/Plano area.  A small group of families initially met at 6808 Frankford Road in North Dallas, and by May of 1990, Lord of Life was a chartered LCMS congregation with Pastor McMillian as its first pastor.

In 1991, Lord of Life received a church building, furnishings, equipment and 5 acres of land at our current site on 15th Street in Plano.  With the help of Laborers for Christ, a multi-function building was completed and dedicated in 1994.

In 1996, Mrs. Pat Fick was called to be the Music Director and Assistant to Pastor McMillian.  She served until she and her husband Steve moved to St. Louis so that Steve could prepare for the Pastoral Ministry.  In 1998, Ryan Meyer was called to be Lord of Life's Director of Youth and Christian Education.  Later that year, Pastor McMillian accepted a call to start a new mission in Arkansas.

Pastor John Lindner was installed in August of 1999.  In January of 2000, Benjamin Kolodziej's duties were expanded to be Lord of Life's Director of Worship and Organist.  We completed construction of an education wing in 2001.  Ryan Meyer accepted a call in 2002, and Joe Werner was called to be the Director of Youth and Family Ministry in August of 2005.

Building Phase III, an addition that expanded the narthex and included a new kitchen, classrooms, an administrative wing, and a fellowship hall was completed in the spring of 2008, and it was dedicated along with our pipe organ on June 22, 2008.  In August of 2009, Scott Peters became Lord of Life's Director of Youth.

Lord of Life called Pastor Joel Shaltanis, and he was installed as our Associate Pastor on January 13, 2013.  On October 27, 2013 Pastor Lindner retired from ministry.  On December 15, 2013, Pastor Shaltanis was called to be our Sole Pastor.  Lord of Life continues to enjoy the blessings that God has given for more than 20 years.  We continue to look forward to the joys and challenges of mission and ministry for the years to come.
